Theresa Cerulli, M.D.
Theresa Cerulli, M.D. is a graduate of Tufts University, University of Massachusetts Medical School, Harvard Longwood Residency Program in Adult Psychiatry, and two Harvard Fellowships in Medical Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry. Dr. Cerulli is Board Certified in Psychiatry and is on faculty at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and was trained as faculty for NEI, the Neuroscience Education Institute.
She received the 1997 Harvard Residency Teaching Award and has published several journal articles in the Harvard Review of Psychiatry and the Journal of Medicine. Dr. Cerulli was recently honored to become a certified Peer Reviewer for the Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology. She has further developed her clinical role from Instructor to Lecturer of the Harvard Medical School faculty, teaching on a range of medical neuropsychiatric topics including Attention Deficit Disorder, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Electroconvulsive Therapy, Facticious Disorder By Proxy, and Forensics. With a passion for mentoring, she has remained a supervisor for the Harvard Longwood Residency Training Program for over 20 years and recently became a preceptor for two Psychiatric NP programs in 2023, UMass Dartmouth and Regis College.
Dr. Cerulli is the co-founder and prior Chief Medical Officer of ADD Health and Wellness Centers, specializing in the holistic treatment of children and adults with ADD/ADHD and co-existing behavioral health conditions. Her vision is in combining traditional medicine with healthy living to promote cognitive and emotional well-being. She previously served as Medical Director for the Hallowell Center and co-founder of Hallowell ADDvance. Dr. Cerulli has served as a national expert witness in over 22 child and adult psychiatric legal cases. Since 2003 she has presented nationally and internationally (Germany, Spain, UK, Belgium, Switzerland) as a consultant and speaker in the pharmaceutical industry with various companies including Shire Pharmaceuticals, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Allergan, Takeda, Sunovion, Supernus, Abbvie, Noven, Corium, Axsome, and Neos Therapeutics in their CNS divisions. She was a sub-investigator with East Coast Clinical Research for two Phase IV psychotropic medication trials and is certified by the Major League Baseball Commission (MLB) to conduct therapeutic use exemption evaluations (TUE’s) for major and minor league players.
Familiar with the media, Dr. Cerulli has appeared on numerous television programs: channel 7, Urban Update for a debate on the use of psychotropic medications in children, a channel 5 ABC Evening News segment on learning disabilities, and WMUR Evening News on integrating mental health care. She was also interviewed on TV channel 56’s Health Watch regarding the use of Quantitative EEG and CONN TV’s Health Beat. Her podcasts include several DocTalk interviews and a Psych Central podcast, Inside Mental Health, with Gabe Howard. Dr. Cerulli has served as moderator and expert panelist on digital programs such as MedicalCrossfire, HCPLive, and PsychiatricTimes. Her other media appearances include interviews with local radio stations WBCN, WESO, Radio Disney, and the Frankie Boyer Show, as well as several newspaper and magazine articles. More recently in July 2021, Dr. Cerulli was filmed in a Dr. Mom video series and in June 2022 for a live national television & radio satellite media tour (SMT) broadcast. She will soon be launching a mental health digital educational program, Psych Medcast, as the host, co-developer, and expert contributor in conjunction with MJH Lifesciences in 2023.
